The ultimate SVG icon sprite enfolding machine
Get your Icons ready and create a new File in Illustrator. Choose a reasonable size for your Canvas. Preferably the original size of the icons. Stack your icons over each other. Center the icons to the canvas. Make sure nothing is "hanging over" the canvas.
Be sure to name your groups or compound paths inside the layer palette of Illustrator. Paths without names and everything in pointy brackets like <path> will not be interpreted by SpriteSpreadr. And those names are crucial for your devs.
Save a .ai copy. Then save as SVG. Always make your changes in the .ai and export it again to SVG afterwards. Don't make changes in the .svg itself.
Illustrator will prompt some SVG Export Options. Just leave it default. You don't need to change anything here. Click "OK".
Your SVG is ready for SpriteSpreadr. If you're not sure about your SVG you may have a look at it in any text editor. It should have <svg> tags around your paths and it should have these two urls inside of the <svg> tags: xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"
Have fun optimising your icons or just enjoy a structured overview!
